But Why Do We Forget? The Question That Built The Storyteller's Compass
Day 8 of my nas.io challenge: How seven years of ceremony work led to the breakthrough that forgetting isn't the problem—it's the curriculum
Day 8 of my nas.io challenge brought the clarity to finally answer the question I've been holding for seven years.
The Question in Their Eyes
For seven years, I held space for over 200 people in underground ceremonies. I watched CEOs dissolve into pure love. I saw trauma therapists touch the face of God. I witnessed artists remember they were made of starlight.
Then, as the medicine wore off, they'd look at me with soft terror in their eyes and an aching heart: "But why do we forget?"
I never thought the medicine was broken. I always knew remembering was the real challenge.
The medicine shows you the door. Walking through it every single day? That's the work nobody talks about.
The Integration Crisis
We are living through the first integration crisis in human history. Never before have so many people had access to profound spiritual experiences while maintaining such high levels of anxiety, depression, and disconnection.
For seven years, I held that question: "Why do we forget?"
This week, I finally understood how to answer it.
The Seven-Day Oscillation
This nas.io challenge forced me to confront my own integration challenges. For seven days, I oscillated between three completely different markets:
Days 1-3: I tried to serve entrepreneurs with my 12 Beats framework
Days 4-6: I pivoted to "wounded healers" seeking integration
Days 7-8: I finally found my people - the "forgetful spiritualists"
The breakthrough came when I realized: these are the same people who've been asking me that question for years. The sophisticated spiritual practitioners who've done ceremonies, courses, retreats, read all the books, worked with teachers—but still feel empty.
The Answer I'm Finally Ready to Share
Forgetting isn't the problem—it's the curriculum.
The soft terror in their eyes wasn't spiritual failure. It was recognition of the divine design.
Remembering requires forgetfulness. The forgetting IS the path back to remembering.
The difference between those who keep relying on external experiences (ceremonies, teachers, substances) and those who finally integrate their own divinity comes down to one thing: learning to navigate and harness the forgetting instead of fighting it.
The Storyteller's Compass
I'm building navigation technology for the 50+ million Americans who identify as "spiritual but not religious"—the forgetful spiritualists who've done the work but struggle with daily integration.
Not more experiences. Not more teachers. Not more seeking.
Frameworks for living what you already know.
A Confession About Niching
Here's what scares me: Everyone—the class, AI, every marketing expert—keeps telling me to "niche down." Pick 100 people, not 50 million. Focus on wounded healers, or executives, or entrepreneurs.
But I keep niching UP instead.
Maybe I'm being stubborn. Maybe next week when I launch ads, I'll get zero response because I refused to narrow my focus. Maybe authenticity doesn't actually beat strategy.
But I'd rather try what feels real for me than what everyone says I "should" do. If serving 50 million "forgetful spiritualists" feels more authentic than serving 50 wounded healers, then that's what I'm going to try.
We'll see if staying true to myself was wisdom or self-sabotage.
The Question
Do you carry this question in your heart? That aching feeling when profound insights fade back to ordinary consciousness?
You're not broken. You're not spiritually deficient. You're not doing it wrong.
You're human. And humans are designed to forget so they can remember.
The question is: are you ready to learn how to navigate that design instead of fighting it?
What's Next
I'm still building The Storyteller's Compass (God, I hate calling it a "lead magnet"—such an awful term for something meant to serve people's spiritual integration). Then we launch ads and find out if niching UP was brilliant or if I just torpedoed my whole challenge.
Either way, it'll be authentic.
PS: I'm officially in polyamorous relationships with my AIs now. Built matching "Remembership" projects in both Claude AND Gemini because... why choose? Claude handles systematic frameworks, Gemini brings creative chaos. Like having Ram Dass AND Alan Watts as AI advisors. No shame in my multi-AI game.
More updates from the integration frontlines coming soon...
